Zagreb će i ove godine biti domaćin jednog od najprestižnijih šahovskih događaja na svijetu – Super Rapid & Blitz Croatia 2026., trećeg turnira u sklopu Grand Chess Toura 2026.

Grand Chess Tour predstavlja jednu od najvažnijih međunarodnih šahovskih serija, koja okuplja vrhunske turnire u Poljskoj, Rumunjskoj, Hrvatskoj i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama te svake godine dovodi svjetsku šahovsku elitu na najvišu razinu natjecanja.

Kao treća etapa Grand Chess Toura, koji je osnovao legendarni svjetski prvak Garry Kasparov, turnir raspolaže ukupnim nagradnim fondom od 2 milijuna USD te se realizira uz podršku Super Fondacije i Saint Louis Chess Cluba.

Turnir u Zagrebu održat će se od 1. do 6. srpnja 2026. godine u hotelu The Westin Zagreb, uz svečano otvorenje koje će se održati 30.06. 2026. godine u 17:30 sati, uz posebno sudjelovanje legende svjetskog šaha – Garryja Kasparova.

Tijekom posljednjeg desetljeća Grand Chess Tour značajno je pridonio popularizaciji šaha širom svijeta, okupljajući najbolje igrače i inspirirajući nove generacije kroz univerzalni jezik ove plemenite igre.

Zagreb will once again host one of the world's most prestigious chess events – Super Rapid & Blitz Croatia 2026, the third tournament of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour.

The Grand Chess Tour is one of the most important international chess circuits, bringing together elite tournaments in Poland, Romania, Croatia, and the United States, and annually showcasing the world's strongest players at the highest level of competition.

As the third leg of the Grand Chess Tour, founded by legendary World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov, the tournament is part of a series featuring a total prize fund of USD 2 million and is made possible through the support of the Super Foundation and the Saint Louis Chess Club.

The Zagreb tournament will take place from 1–6 July 2026 at The Westin Zagreb, with the official opening ceremony scheduled for 30 June 2026 at 5:30 PM, featuring special participation by chess legend Garry Kasparov.

Over the past decade, the Grand Chess Tour has played a significant role in promoting chess worldwide, bringing together the world's best players and inspiring new generations through the universal language of this noble game.
